6.24. The complex tiles of the Blue Mosque of Tabriz in northwest Iran. The mosque was built in 1455, about a century and a half after Ibn Battuta passed through the city. He was impressed with the trading wealth, some of which was channeled into this mosque. Subsequent earthquakes have destroyed much of the building.
